Post-Lindsey Mac are good, but not the real deal
By M Watson from Scotland , 25 Jan 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
The Tango in the Night DVD is taken from the tour of the same name, in the late 80's.
Lindsey Buckingham is not in the band at this point, so his songs suffer more than most in the concert. There is no doubt that Rick Vito is a good guitarist, but his style is too far from Buckingham's for imitation.
That said, Stevie and Christine's songs still come across well and the concert itself is quite well shot and a decent DVD transfer.
It will provide an hour or so of entertainment for Mac fans, but is not recommended for those with fond memories of the Buckingham Nicks era or people who have only newly discovered the magic of Fleetwood Mac.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)A proper concert
By WiseOldBob (37 reviews) from York , 09 Dec 2009It's interesting to see a band performing a 'proper' concert, with the band generally going for it with verve (luckily not 'The Verve'. Where are they now?), talent and some passion, as opposed to the lightweight mass-manufactured 'artists' of today. The songs are classics of their time and the big stadium gig somehow has a nice, rather homely feel. The production suffers somewhat from Stevie Nicks being re-shot in a studio and mixed in afterwards (presumably she looked a bit rough on the night) and being video-taped is a little blurred by modern DVD standards. Also: you've got to figure out whether Billy Burnett and the other guy are an improvement on Lindsay Buckingham, who decided to sit this one out.- Was this review helpful to you?

The Night
By a customer from Swinton, Manchester , 24 Apr 2006I was bound to like this DVD, as I had only one tape to play for six months, while working in China, in 1987, being Tango In The Night. The music holds very fond memories for me. The DVD took me on that magicial trip again. I will be forever a Fleetwood Mac fan. A real enjoyable DVD.- Was this review helpful to you?

Disappointing 80's
By Divya108 from Hertfordshire , 06 Feb 2005Tango in the night was disappointing, Fleetwood Mac looked as if they were at their lowest at this point, Lydsey Buckingham looked a shadow of himself and Stevie Nicks looked like a doll. 70's stuff was great and I was happy to see live in Boston 2004 when they have reclaimed thier former glory of the 70's.- Was this review helpful to you?

It's music
By Bryan Lawrence from Hampshire UK , 29 Jan 2005I rented this for my daughter. It's not my sort of music, but there were a few numbers I realised I had heard over the years, and now I know who sang them!- Was this review helpful to you?
