Flight Of The Conchords - Series 2 Details

The difficult second series.....

If you're looking at this no doubt you've seen teh first series which was a breath of fresh air in comedy, truly the first series was an amazing watershed and so we've all been waiting for the second...

...unfortunately it seems that the difficult second series may well have hit this show...the music lets the series down so far. Sure, there are some very good songs but they are few and far between with too many wishy washy songs reducing the time you spend laughing and leave you wondering 'did i like that episode?'

Not too sure about the idea of all the other characters now being involved in the music either given this was a show about the band moving to America and their music

Overall, still worth watching but you must make sure you have seen series 1 first, definitely dont start with this series

A momentary blip or running out of steam?

This fails to live up to the first series and the weakness is mainly in the songs - there are few genuinely hilarious ones this time around whilst the decision to spread out the musical duties to other cast members is of questionable merit. There are still some good plot ideas, funny dialogue and clever riffing on well known films (West Side Story, Chinatown, etc...) but it was the genius of the sings that made the first series work so well and only 2 or 3 here live up to that standard. Hopefully season 3 (if it happens) will see a return to form.
