This appealing children's adventure has just enough quirky touches to keep adults involved as well. Joey Cramer is the youngster who goes missing at the age of 12, only to turn up eight years later completely unchanged. It soon becomes apparent that his disappearance is linked to alien space travel. The scenes where Cramer attempts to get to grips with the fact that he has missed out on eight years of his life (his younger brother is now his elder) are neatly handled by director Randal Kleiser, who proves equally adept at the action sequences. Of the adults, Veronica Cartwright and Howard Hesseman come off best, while a pre-stardom Pee-Wee Herman (aka Paul Reubens) provides the voice of Cramer's friendly robot.
"...Pleasant....The script plays to director Randal Kleiser's strength, which is a sensitivity and conviction in depicting young people in relation to one another and their parents..."
Movie was good (just as I remember it)- I rented this Dvd because I wanted to watch this classic in Dvd quality but the quality of the Dvd was horrible!
If you want to rent this movie, then rent it on VHS (Will give you better quality)
I didnt spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds on my home entertainment system to view rubbish quality like this.
really really disappointed

When he's returned to the wrong time and the ship is captured by NASA, David and the alien must team up to escape and put things right.
