BAD QUALITY

Movie was good (just as I remember it)- I rented this Dvd because I wanted to watch this classic in Dvd quality but the quality of the Dvd was horrible!
If you want to rent this movie, then rent it on VHS (Will give you better quality)
I didn’t spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds on my home entertainment system to view rubbish quality like this.

By shonav (2 reviews) , 25 Feb 2013Great 80s kids sci-fi. Of course the graphics don't hold up against the seamless quality we watch in this day and age, but that's part of the charm. I remember watching this as a kid and beginning transfixed. What's wrong with using a little of the old imagination. Agree that the DVD quality is on the low side, but this didn't undermine the enjoyment factor.- Was this review helpful to you?

Blu-ray version is decent quality
By Xavie (1 review) , 13 Jan 2013The bluray copy is rather good for a film of its age and certainly better than the DVD release going by the comments on the DVD copy (I haven't seen it). There are no special features apart from a commentary track which, whilst dry at times, does give some insight into how the special effects were created and worth a look. But a great nostalgia film. Last time I saw this was when I was 7 when it came out at the cinema and my foot was tapping to the 80's electronica music right from the start. Definately worth a rental on bluray if the DVD is really that bad- Was this review helpful to you?

Better than Speilberg

Watched it with my 8 yr old son who also enjoyed it but it was clear that it wasn't holding his attention as well more contemporary films. Was great to see it again, but glad I rented instead of buying. Looking forward to renting it again in another 20 years.- Was this review helpful to you?
