A fantastic New York story, beautifully told.
By Brion (2 reviews) , 02 Feb 2012I first explored the Meatpacking District in the late 1980's. It was scary and exciting. Over the years I have seen it change. This film is as much about that change as it is about the story of the restaurant. The film conveys the spirit of those early years. Considering how ad hoc and drug/sex fuelled everyone was, it's amazing how much original footage and photographs exist. Watching it, you can't help but feel nostalgic. We'll never see the likes of Florents, Mars Bar, CBGB or The Big Cup again. But like Florent says, 'New York is about change.'- Was this review helpful to you?
