Not as good, but not too badBy EmHove (24 reviews) from Brighton , 11 Feb 2012
[Highly rated reviewer]I grew up on the original so this was never going to match up however that said, this doesn't do a bad job. I still prefer the original but as other reviews have said, this isn't about preference. It sticks as much to the storyline as possible, and has the all singing all dancing ending that we all want! My main criticism would be the quality of the acting, though I guess you don't watch films like this for strong actors. Still made me smile, if you want a cheesy, girly film then this does the trick, glad to hear a lot of the orginal soundtrack being used too

Amazing !!!!By Kayceeflutterby (4 reviews) , 12 Feb 2013Before I rented this film I was wanting to see it but didn't want to buy it incase I didn't like it. But OMG! I absolutley loved it! Julianne Hough is one of my favourite actresses and she was amazing in this as well as the male lead. Nothing like what I imagined, but in a good way. I would say this film is for musical/dance enthusiasts. This film is soooo good that I ended up buying it on Blu Ray!

Decide for yourselfBy a customer , 14 Nov 2012I concur with most sentiments here - it's basically the original brought up to date. The trouble with it is this - if you haven't seen the original, this movie probably doesn't stand on it's own. An obvious clever ploy by a movie company to make a few more dollars off the same movie - clean it up, make it modern, and market it for today's youth. That being said, it wasn't half bad, and probably appeals to Footloose lovers more than the kids. We caught ourselves chuckling at the fact that it's so close to the original. The great 80's songs are redone, there's a bit of hip hop, and rearranging of scenes that works okay. On a side note, I said to my husband, 'what country bar in America has line dances like THAT??' (We're American.) He was stationed in Arizona years ago and said there was a bar exactly like that, complete with sawdust floors, barrels full of beer, and intricate line dances! So there you go.
confused filmBy wolfen40 (2 reviews) , 08 Nov 2012For a remake of a classic film which i grew up with this aint half bad, the only problem I had was it couldnt seem to make its mind up wether it was a word for word remake or trying to be its own film
