Can You Beat This Film
By Jon Fox from Luton, England , 31 Jul 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Ok I've just read the previous review submitted to this movie. Er Hum.... Of course it's dated, of course it's full of 80s dancing, because.... IT IS AN 80s MOVIE! What a fantastic movie at that. great story. Love the acting. Something honnest about the performances, like everyone believed in the movies direction. Undoubtedly the best film from the time. I love the dancing, I can do the dancing, it's not camp it's real. People danced like that and they were loved for it. Rent this film, you cannot fail to be impressed and relieved that they got their dance. I challenge anyone to refrain from dancing the whole way through.- Was this review helpful to you?

(55)Kevin Bacon sizzles
By Sho24 (1 review) , 16 May 2013One of my all time favourites as when it was first released I was only 14. I watched it recently and it was just as I remember. A feel good easy to follow story and no need for special effects.- Was this review helpful to you?

1984 Original - a True Classic
By Chrisaljack (307 reviews) from Hellingly , 19 Jul 2012Do not waste your time with the 2011 version of Footloose. This 1984 version is absolutely terrific! ...and the reason they re-made it! Classic music, an opening title sequence that will have your feet tapping (only bettered by the opening sequence of Flashdance that was issued about the same time in the mid-1980's) and a story absolutely in tune with the times. A genuine Classic!- Was this review helpful to you?

toe tapping
By a customer , 03 Feb 2012What an easy to watch, foot tapping film. Great to watch with the kids (girls) and hearing all the songs is great- Was this review helpful to you?

Watch it with itchy feet!
By otis_b_flywheel (5 reviews) , 21 Jan 2012Seething 80s teenage angst and a little corny in places but I had a stupid grin on my face all the way through. Priceless Saturday night viewing!- Was this review helpful to you?

Classic teen movie...pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
By HayleyMeloy (8 reviews) from Liverpool, England , 08 Jan 2012This is of course a classic teen movie, in the vein of Dirty Dancing, and is enjoyable enough for what it is. Nice way to spend a little free time, but probably not one to go out of your way to watch UNLESS of course you love this genre, which is fair enough, or remember the original release fondly.
I enjoyed seeing a young Kevin Bacon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Christopher Penn strut their stuff and John Lithgow gave a typically talented and nuanced performance. I enjoyed the soundtrack, which I remember from my youth more than the film, and of course the stereotypical happy ending. I did actually expect more dancing in it if I'm honest!
Really glad to have finally seen it and I'll probably wind up watching it again in a few years if I catch it on the TV.- Was this review helpful to you?
