Footprints is a film long thought lost forever, on top of many Italian Horror and Giallo fans lists the film elements were finally discovered in 2009 and this DVD is the ONLY release worldwide.

Footprints is the story of Alice a translator / interprator, she is haunted by a science fiction film she saw many years ago. Suddenly she realises three days of her life are missing and a mysterious postcard of a hotel in Garma is her only clue.

Footprints is beautifuly shot and directed, each frame is a work of art. The sets, the lighting, the gorgous locations it's simply a beautiful film. Florinda Bolkan is fascinating to watch as ever, she truely is a wonderful actress.

Highly recommend though not your usual run of the mill giallo or thriller, the pay off at the end is surreal and frightening.

The most important text at the end they didn't translate? I worked it out but it spoilt the ending for me. It's really unusual to see a film about a mad person, who is actually meant to be mad, & not just a victim of narrow minded people as in many films Not sure why it's an 18 at all. The skipping between Italian & English is quite funny the explanation is in TeamChad's review.

  • Gently Pleasing. Intriguing drama rather than horror.

Very nice relaxing jaunt. A bit like watching a well-produced holiday advert. Not especially gripping, though. And no horror. In fact, it was a bit anticlimactic at the end.

  • Most beautiful film ever made?

Footprints is possibly the most beautifully shot film I have ever seen, I would happily hang about 95% of the film on my wall as an individual piece of art. The story is interesting enough and the ending is satisfactory without being fully explained. A must for any lover of film. Watch out for the curious drop out where the film quality changes for a couple of minutes due to the splicing of a lost piece of film, this just adds to the effect for me. Love it. Watch the Fifth Cord if you liked this.

I'm sorry but don't listen to other reviews claiming the production ran out of money. Shameless have restored this film, so some of it had been lost, so they used other prints(in its orginal language) to fill in the gaps. This is the first time this film has been available in the uk, and the first time its been on dvd in the rest of the world

This is a wonderful film, full of suspense. It's not some hollywood, fast paced glossy production, but it does have a very poetic haunting feel that I liked.

I'd recommend this to fans of Dario Argento's early work or anyone who likes giallo genre. It will certainly leave you with my questions after its finished.

To put it bluntly, this film is a load of tripe. It's a slow paced, drawn out affair, but it's quite an atmospheric jaunt and the unfolding mystery kept me (half) watching. The problem is the ending. A film like this is all about finding the truth and reaching that climax that explains all and wraps the mystery up. This one delivers no such thing. The ending is nonsensical and will leave you feeling cheated. It's not big and it's not clever, and no, it's not because the 'art' is beyond me. Avoid like the plague.
