A Fabulous Film - a shame it fell through the net at the box officeBy Emma McCarthy from London , 03 Mar 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]I first watched this film when I was about 12, a friend found it in a skip would you believe?? And I have treasured it ever since. It was the first film I had ever watched with Bette Midler in it and now I am a huge huge fan. James Caan and Bette play fantastic roles and the many stages of the film make you laugh, cry, angry and nostalgic. Very American but hey whats wrong with that? Great Soundtrack, great singer and some fabulous costumes. Don't be put off by bad reviews, if you like a good war time film but you like a bit of show biz glamour too...this is perfect!!! Best part of the film is when Bette gets on stage for the first time and shows up James Caan with her crude jokes....FAB!

HELD TOGETHER WITH BLUE TACKBy a customer from SHEFFIELD , 11 Aug 2009Lond rambling trite narrative that doesn't really believe itself either. The odd flash of Midler's magnetic stage prescence is no where near enough compensation for wading through the drivel
One of my all time favouritesBy a customer from UK , 26 Jun 2009If you are a fan of the versatile Bette Midler make sure you see this. A tearjerker, even my usually tough nut daughter grabbed the tissues on 3 occasions. Told in hindsight, the only dissapointing thing in this movie was the aging make-up at the end.
EntertainingBy a customer from england , 16 Jun 2009Bette Midler at her best. I loved her permance but not so much the story line. Worht watching though.
For the BoysBy HelenF (23 reviews) from Worcester , 06 Jun 2009I enjoyed this film, it was thoroughly entertaining. Bette Midler's excellent singing is always enjoyable. The story line was also entertaining and interesting.
for the boys bette midlerBy a customer from Guisborough , 01 Apr 2009Had not seen this since I was a teenager and still loved it. Does not date. The songs are as good as ever especially when she sings to the soldiers in vietnam, very moving.
