Truly one of the most intensly compeling documentery I have seen in a very long time. I set out to dislike it, sensing I would be hit by a barrage of negative/hateful spite towards Gays, instead what I was met with was an extremly balanced, researched and fact based documentary. Each side was allowed a voice. There a wonderful mix of scientist/pshycologists/famous faces all giving their thoughts on the matter. Yet what really draws you in are the very real, relatable, human, moving family stories. Of parents who's strict religious believes condtradicted their unconditional love for their children. Some were further down the road of acceptance, yet everyone's journey counted. I was in awe of these people who commited their lives to this documentary and opened not just their homes but their hearts too. Facinating documentary that *everyone* should watch, today. If I could give it more then 5 stars I would.

  • Good, humane, counter to the US far right christian fear lobby

Uplifting, positive response to the misinformed US christian right. The fearmongerers whose messages are intrusive to the point of hostile to LGBT's trying to live their natural lives. Good, if light, critical discrediting of the bible extracts that are most popularly used to attack gays which are taken right out of context and without intelligent discernment.

    Wonderful film!

The editing is superb with a great deal of attention paid to the emotional arcs. This is a film that takes you on a grounded, non-sensationalist yet moving and uplifting journey.

this film poses many interesting questions. However, there werent enough birds of prey in this film to hold my interest.

Also the scene where those robots went swimming wasnt very realistic. And when those cats got lost in Meadowhall.

  • Pure Propaganda!

    Rated - 1.5 stars
    By a customer , 24 Apr 2012
This film is decently made but ultimately pure propaganda for pro Gay rights. What the film fails to include very little of, is why people believe The Bible is against homosexuality - as in allowing those people to speak that actually believe that. Whilst the film makers point out people are interpreting the Bible to suit their own agenda or perspective; this film does just that convienently reinterprets verses to say that homosexuality is not condemned or such condemnation is no longer valid after Jesus came. Curiously, many people do exactly the same with the Bible even when it is absolutely unequivocal on things such as practicing divination, the ocult, contacting the dead, etc e.g. there are Christian Spiritualist Churches who naturally reinterpret the verses so that what they are doing is not condemned. This film is very one sided, and would have been better had it been more balanced by allowing people that believe the Bible is against gays to actually speak; instead you get a succession of people that have gay children or are themselves gay and actively involved in a Christian Church, and who are naturally going to claim people are misinterpreting The Bible saying it is againat gays. N.B. Not saying either view is right, just saying allow a balanced view and let both sides speak and explain why they believe what they do, to give a balanced viewpoint; otherwise you are likely to end up with a totally one sided propaganda documentary like this is!

  • An informative, current look at how the Bible is being interpreted to induce hate against Homosexuals

This is a truthful look at how the Bible is being translated into hatred against the Gay community. It demonstrates this has not always been the way, but enraged and insistant fundamentalists have risen in numbers and are not only extremely influential but often reaping much financial reward through their dangerous practices. In this film you meet the families of those devout formerly anti-gay Christians who learnt to change when their children came out as gay. They had the wisdom to learn that being 'good' does not always mean being blindly led by the first 'man of God' who comes along and they stuck by their children. But not all young people are this lucky. The film also meets one woman who couldn't accept her child's sexuality at all, after a lifetime of being taught hate via her community, church services and radio. It is hard to understand how a person can reject their own child but this is the reality of the influence the bible can have when people believe they have no choice but obey certain cherry picked passages literally, in response to fundamentalist brainwashing....when its teachings are ingrained in them from youth. It took the suicide of this woman's daughter to convince her being gay was not a choice, and what she'd thought she had known about right and wrong was was skewed.
