    Black and White wonder

I rented this after enjoying two other Walter Salles jnr. films ('Central Station' and 'Behind the Sun') and it did not disappoint. Filmed in black and white, the plot involves a young man, Paco, who wants to escape Sao Paulo and visit his mother's Spanish homeland after her unexpected death. He tries to pay his way there by unknowingly becoming involved in a smuggling venture. After its failure he ends up on the run in Portugal, accompanied by a Brazilian girl, Alex, who leads him into further trouble. There is a degree of violence, but the acting is superb and it is beautifully filmed, keeping you guessing until the end.

Well made - but didn't hold attention

I'm sure this is a well made film - but I just found it too involved and my attention kept wandering. I didn't really care as much about the characters as perhaps I was meant to.

Or failing that, they could become one of the city’s 300,000 motorcycle couriers. Linha de Passe forms part of a larger co-directing Read more
