Life is like a box of chocolates

Forrest is a purely innocent, well-meaning individual, and there can be no fault found in him. It's the rest of the world that is realistic, impure, and flawed. And so, when Forrest hurts, we can't help but hurt for him, when he is successful, we can't help but be happy for him and when his heart breaks, ours breaks also.
The movie itself holds the meaning that the measurement of success is not by intelligence and fame; it is by a simple notion of happiness. Forrest could be a millionaire, but he is happy to mow the lawn for free.
Extremely quotable, the dialogue is peppered with humour and tragedy and for the most part is well written. Good performances all around, even from the supporting cast who are defined by Gump's perception of them. The special effects are great and the action is written into the plot well. The story though redundant and slow in places, does meander full circle for Gump's life and his effect on the world around him.
I prefer Rain Man, but this is still extremely good- Was this review helpful to you?

By Storymaker (14 reviews) , 14 Apr 2013I had heard a lot about Forrest Gump and read from the title and synopsis that it was a comedy film, in some instances it is, there are comedy moments. But for me, it was one of those films which makes you reflect on yourself, a story of a simple guy who lives a simply amazing and beautiful life. I did find the length to be quite long, but i got drawn in to every scene. Highly worth watching!- Was this review helpful to you?

Life is a lie but Forrest is more so

Forrest Gump's romp through a distorted view of Americana is even more deluded than most of us can imagine. Lolloping through history with his size 9s, our protagonist single handedly saves the day as American, so we're told time and again, always does. Even when it patently didn't. I was half expecting to watch him plant the flag on the moon. I suppose my real problem with this slack-jawed yokel is that many slack-jawed yokels who don't know any better will not be able to distinguish the story in this film from reality.- Was this review helpful to you?

totally brilliant
By cheesekake (1277 reviews) from uk , 15 Mar 2012I wanted to see this film just so I can say I've seen it, because there was so much talk about how good it was and I wanted to see for myself, and I'm so glad I did.
This film was well worth seeing. Amazingly brilliant that you can see why everyone loves it.
You can't help but love Forrest for his innocence and pure lifeforce.
