When upscale, happily unmarried San Francisco couple Kate and Brad find themselves socked in by fog on Christmas morning, their exotic vacation plans morph into the family-centric holiday they had, until now, gleefully avoided. Out of obligation--and unable to escape--they trudge to not one, not two, but four relative-choked festivities, increasingly mortified to find childhood fears raised, adolescent wounds reopened and their very future together uncertain. As Brad counts the hours to when he can get away from their parents, step-parents, siblings and an assortment of nieces and nephews, Kate is starting to hear the ticking of a different kind of clock. And by the end of the day, she is beginning to wonder if their crazy families' choices are not so crazy after all.

A happily unmarried childless career driven couple are used to focusing on themselves at Christmas time. They forget their families and jet off to some luxury holiday location for their 'perfect Christmas'. This year however, chaos happens when flights are cancelled due to bad weather and to top it off the news crew are there to film the occasion. Not able to escape the fact that their parents have seen them on TV, they are forced to visit their parents for Christmas...Both sets of parents are divorced, which means visiting not one, not two, but 4 families in one day....a painful, embarrassing, disastrous, awkward Christmas ensues...
Forget all the 'official' reviews in magazines/newspapers which have given this film a very low score, this film is a must see for the Christmas holidays! Honestly there wasn't one person in the audience who wasn't laughing out loud (Both men and women)! Excellent performances from quick talking Brad (Vince Vaughn) and sassy Kate (Reese Witherspoon).
Let’s begin at the end: the credits sequence is the funniest, and the most outrageous finale in ages. I’ve rarely seen an audience sent out on quite such a high. It’s such a spectacular coup, it puts a flattering gloss on a surprisingly ingenious but nevertheless uneven black comedy. This is the third movie in six months produced from a screenplay by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, and it’s so much better than either Four Christmases or The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past that... Read more
