Creaking along the dank, filthy corridors, metal rods piercing her skin, down to her brittle bones, the creature the terrified children call "The Mechanical Girl" roams in the shadows. When Amy (Calista Flockhart) arrives at the remote, dilapidated Mercy falls Children's Hospital to replace a nurse who left shortly before, she finds the patients have been the victims of a number of inexplicable attacks. Amy befriends Maggie, a child who says she has been speaking to "Charlotte", a mechanical girl she believes lives on the second floor that has been closed for forty years. Whatever is happening at Mercy Falls, Amy knows the despicable figure lurking on the floor above them holds the answers.

This is not a bad wee chiller that should have reached a wider cinema audience. Considering some of the crap and so called chiller/horror i have had to endure recently, this came as a nice surprise. Best thing Ms Flockhart has done in ages
I rented this because I'm interested in Urbex (the exploration of derelict buildings), especially old hospitals and the trailers had scenes just like many of the photos on Flickr, of old wards and corridors with equipment and furniture all in place etc.
Initially I was really disappointed when watching it because it was quite difficult to get into because it seemed to have no real storyline and was plagued by cheesy, soppy music, but I advise you to keep watching because almst out of nowhere, it suddenly picks up the pace and becomes interesting and scary.
I've watched literally hundreds of horror movies and barely any have ever left me feeling as genuinely unnerved and creeped out as this did!
I even had a nightmare, lol.
Seriously though, persevere through the crappy bits (but don't miss them as when you finally get to the 'true' story, you'll understand it if you've watched it all) and watch out for Charlotte - it's her face and eyes that scared me the most - I lay awake thinking about her for ages and wouldn't stop hugging my hubby :D
