Bah Humbug, I so wanted this to be great... First of all, this has some brilliant sets, the North Pole thing is brilliant, and is equalled by the talent (Paul Giamatti, Vince Vaughan, Rachel Weisz), unfortunately what it doesn't have is a huge sack of laughs. It does raise a titter every now and again, but it never sets an atmosphere and gets too bogged down in in-law infighting, and forced 'nicey' bits to make it really palatable for young or old alike. It just doesn't feel Christmassy, and isn't that what you want out of a Christmas film ? Even the little ones in our screening seemed bemused, and bored, half way through and seemed to catch on that this was a bit contrived even given the subject matter. Add to this just about everyone acting like they just couldn't be too bothered with the whole thing (the worset thing I have seen Vaughan or Giamatti do, they must be ringing their agents in the Ho Ho Hope of getting a better film next time). Hey, I don't want to sleigh-t this too much, but you can be sure there are better, can't recommend this too much, in fact I'm off to watch Grinch to Cheer myself up.
WARNING:A grown up can only watch this movie during the festive season, during any other time and he will be prone to gagging!!
The script is silly, and everything is so whimsically stupid that I don't even know if a 10 year old will be convinced!! Vince Vaughn is NOT cut out for comedy. The movie is just silly, I don't even know if I would recommend it for kids...BUT.....I was in festive cheer so I watched it, with the same good cheer. Under that good, festive cheer it wasn't too bad, perhaps on any other day though I wouldn't watch past 5 minutes and switch it off!!
We all loved this film, if only it had come during the month of December. The story was magical and the characters were good my two younger children still believe

...when there is nothing else (at all) to watch.
will have to add this to my list of must-see movies at christmas - i loved it!
I ended up enjoying this film. I found it a bit slow at first but as it went on found myself liking more. story is differnet but is perditerbale.
as a family film worth a look.
enjoy
Great film to put you in the christmas spirit.
Wanted to watch this film with the kids to get them in the Christmas mood, not bad, butter better Crimbo films out there
It's a surprise that this typical schmaltzy christmas fare managed to attract such an accomplished cast list, there isn't very much to make it stand out from the dozens of other similar offerings.
Overwhelmingly average to the adult viewer, it managed (just) to hold the attention of the cinema full of kids on their christmas party who were in attendance with me.
The 'siblings annonymous' bit did raise a smile for a few of the adults.
I got this DVD as my son was having some friends over for his birthday and they all loved it , they are aged between 6 years and 9 years.
At one point they were all shouting 'whooa' when the sleigh took off with Fred Clause onboard.
For grown ups its great to watch with the kids.
I'd recommend this DVD as a Christmas feel good movie.
