A fitting tribute to a real rock star!
By M Watson from Scotland , 25 Jan 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
The surviving band members of Queen wanted to mark Freddie Mercury's death with something that would raise awareness of AIDS and, at the same time, give fans the opportunity to celebrate the life and work of the showstopping singer.
This concert did both of these things and more. It is unlikely there will ever be a better tribute concert in our lifetime.
Although it was an very diverse mix of performers (Guns N' Roses, George Michael, Elton John etc.) the concert really gelled smoothly.
Don't get me wrong, there are some ropey moments - Roger Daltrey's failing voice to name but one, and some songs obviously work better with their guest singers than others.
But there are plenty of highlights to make you want to watch this again and again. Lisa Stansfield's 'I Want to Break Free' and Gary Cherone (Extreme) belting out 'Hammer to Fall' are particular standouts.
The second DVD is very informative and all the band members talk about how the concert came together. This is coupled with some rehearsal footage to complete an excellent DVD release.- Was this review helpful to you?

(13)Brilliant concert - poor DVD
By a customer , 11 Jan 2013Absolutely brilliant concert but only gets two stars as it's been butchered in the transfer to DVD. As the gig was in 1992 it was obviously in 4:3 but the DVD producers decided to lop the top and bottom off the picture to make it 'widescreen'. It wasn't and it isn't - Shots were framed for 4:3 and as a result of the butchery it looks nowhere near as good as it did. On the plus side though the sound is very good - get the DVD, turn off the telly and pump it through the amp!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Freddie Tribute
By a customer from Stoke-on-Trent , 05 Jul 2009I was very disappointed.
The concert showing Guns N Roses, Metallica, etc never made it on to DVD due to licensing agreements.
The show will Queen themsleves was great (I already have it on Video but I no longer have a video player) so this development was very disappointing.- Was this review helpful to you?

A must have
By Anastiebyte from Northumberland , 12 Jun 2005This is an underated piece of musical history. There were so many reports that George Michael would front queen. Sadly this never happened again. But to hear the range in his voice is awesome. Very few artists today come close to Freddies vocal range but GM came pretty close. There are other artists giving their all many better than others.
This is a must see DVD- Was this review helpful to you?
