At 6pm on April 20th, 1992, Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon, the surviving members of Queen, took the stage of London's Legendary Wembley Stadium to announce the start of one of the biggest events in rock history, organised by Queen themselves to pay tribute to their former colleague - the incomparable Freddie Mercury. .. The surviving band members of Queen wanted to mark Freddie Mercury's death with something that would raise awareness of AIDS and, at the same time, give fans the opportunity to celebrate the life and work of the showstopping singer.
This concert did both of these things and more. It is unlikely there will ever be a better tribute concert in our lifetime.
Although it was an very diverse mix of performers (Guns N' Roses, George Michael, Elton John etc.) the concert really gelled smoothly.
Don't get me wrong, there are some ropey moments - Roger Daltrey's failing voice to name but one, and some songs obviously work better with their guest singers than others.
But there are plenty of highlights to make you want to watch this again and again. Lisa Stansfield's 'I Want to Break Free' and Gary Cherone (Extreme) belting out 'Hammer to Fall' are particular standouts.
The second DVD is very informative and all the band members talk about how the concert came together. This is coupled with some rehearsal footage to complete an excellent DVD release.
I went to this concert. I went to most Queen concerts but .... this one looks dated and lacks the main ingredient why we would watch it time and time again ... Freddie Mercury. First half acts are appalling especially Def Leppard. Second half is better. If you are a Queen fan hire a true Queen DVD. For the rest give it a miss.
Second disc was interesting.
A fantastic event with Queen and a whos who in the world of music.
The only reason it dosnt get a 5 star rating is due to the lack of the first half of the concert, in which the guest acts performed thier own songs and Queen numbers, only a minor grumble I know but it would have been great to see and hear those songs again.
Get this DVD to rent and you will have a brilliant time watching and singing along with it, guarenteed!!

This documentary allowed us to see footage that was left off of the first disk, which was limited only to the second half of the concert. It also provided a fantastic insight into the shared loss and celebration of the life of Freddie.
Well worth seeing.
i found this dvd brill
nobody can perform like freddie mercury
i found it upsetting at times but enjoyed the bands
nice prayer - BOWIE
very good enjoyed every minute
I was very disappointed.
The concert showing Guns N Roses, Metallica, etc never made it on to DVD due to licensing agreements.
The show will Queen themsleves was great (I already have it on Video but I no longer have a video player) so this development was very disappointing.
This was a one time only gathering of the most talented rock musicians of the 20th century, each paying tribute to arguably the best rock performer ever. The buzzing atmosphere is captured in this dvd, and the performances by stars such as Robert Plant, Slash, Elton John, George Michael and Annie Lennox are emotional and electrical.
Top show, great to revisit, great performances by the cream of the industry. A must see for any Queen fan.
This is an underated piece of musical history. There were so many reports that George Michael would front queen. Sadly this never happened again. But to hear the range in his voice is awesome. Very few artists today come close to Freddies vocal range but GM came pretty close. There are other artists giving their all many better than others.
This is a must see DVD
