Excellent film
By a customer , 15 Oct 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
An absolutely excellent movie, gripping, entertaining and, in terms of modern politics, still highly relevant. I remember seeing real footage of the French Resistance filmed during the liberation of Paris, seeing a black resistance fighter in one sequence, and wondering if anyone knows who that person is or was? This film goes a fair way towards redressing an historic imbalance in 'official' representations of Anti-Fascist resistance, quite apart from the fact of being cracking cinema. Essential viewing for anyone interested in modern war movies.- Was this review helpful to you?

(10)Interesting but uninvolving
By DiGriso (37 reviews) from Guisborough , 20 Jan 2013The story of algerians in occupied Paris is very interesting but the film revolves around the viewpoint of Younes who is meant to represent 'everyman' and is played as a bland observer. I suspect it is deliberate and highlights the real historical characters in the film who are of more interest but it makes the film uninvolving emotionally.- Was this review helpful to you?

History revealed
By Anng (1 review) , 09 Jan 2013A part of French wartime history that has been kept hidden, even from the French. Having lived in France for several years, this film showed the current tensions within France in a very different way. A new perspective which I found very interesting.- Was this review helpful to you?

Different View of WW2
By OscarFreak (416 reviews) from London , 05 Jan 2013This film provided a different view of WW2 this time from the streets of Paris and the north African immigrants who had settled there during the late 1930's. Well told, acted and thought provoking, and can understand why some reviewers might not like it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dull & Flat
By Iggi_1 (108 reviews) , 21 Dec 2012Failed to connect for us. We had no interest, empathy, or sympathy with the protagonists in this film. A fair enough watch and a story with some basis in fact, but, for us not worth the effort.- Was this review helpful to you?
