Clearly cloned from the Airport disaster movie series, this in-flight entertainment is one of TV moviedom's better efforts, helped by the fact that it's based on a true incident that occurred in 1983. A cast of the usual TV suspects — William Devane, Shelley Hack, Mariette Hartley - is put through its panic-station paces as Flight 174 mysteriously runs out of fuel in midair and the tense search begins for a landing site. Those with a fear of flying should be warned off, but everybody else will find enough low-rent suspense and ham acting on offer to make this an enjoyable time-waster.
If you like bad disaster films this is for you!!
It is hard to take this film seriously as it is so hammed up.
From the opening credits of the film, where a bad actor is in a flight simulator, to the end, where you get to hear the thoughts of the passengers, this is just a total cheese factory.
It may be based on fact but it is so badly done you just have to smile and enjoy.
This is the film that makes every other disaster film look good.
This film is a true story and it makes you want to watch every bit of it
