Based on an imaginative and surprising novel, this opts instead for sci-fi cliché and obvious thrills as Emilio Estevez is plucked from near-death in a racing accident to house the brain of a future-age Anthony Hopkins. Mick Jagger — appearing in a big-screen dramatic role for the first time since 1970's Performance and Ned Kelly — suitably interprets his devious mercenary as a cynical yobbo, but it's a sin not to give talent like Rene Russo and Hopkins himself meatier roles.
