A witty parody of a James Bond credits sequence immediately sets the tone for director Tom McLoughlin's slick and exuberant Jason sequel. Cleverly mining the undercurrent of humour inherent in the gory series, McLoughlin makes sure Jason's roller coaster tracks are well-oiled and run smoothly in this vigorous, vivid and creepy instalment. When Tommy Jarvis (Thom Mathews) digs up his grave to prove Jason's really dead, a bolt of lightning hits the corpse and turns it into a zombie. Cue inventive deaths galore and textbook scares that still elicit a shiver or two.
Tedious re-run of previous movies in the series without even a hint of originality to be discovered.
Well he's back the man behind the mask, jason voorhees is back, and he's bigger badder and meaner than ever, and dont we know it.
Somebody actually wrote a decent script for this movie and the director Tom Mcloughlin(director of creepy horror movie mausoleum) cared enough about the direction of this to make it stand out, even though its 20yrs old its still better than any of the later sequels and some earlier ones, with lots of violence some gore and enough menace to have me hiding under the bed, this works to a T.
with some cool set pieces of action, and great lighting, the stand out piece is jason in the rv and standing on it after the crash, eerie well lit and jason serveying his domain like he owns it.
this came out in 1986 it took 2yrs before it hit the video shops i used to have them all in big rental boxes the art work has changed again, and only the theatrical trailer as xtras, what about the Alice Cooper video, yes the song at the end is sung by Alice Cooper, the makers cared enough to have a song for this film too,so wheres the video, doh
just watch and enjoy its even got tony goldwyn in it he's the bad guy in ghost.
this is a definite horror franchise high enjoy!
So, yet another of the Friday the 13th sequels landed on my doormat, as part of my quest to watch the whole series (yes, I know!!). The film opens up with the normal 'why are you doing that for, your asking for trouble' moment, as they dig up Jason's grave in an attempt to make sure he's really dead (hmmm)! The obvious then happens and jason is on the loose again and heading back to Camp Crystal Lake (although it has been renamed to remove some of the bad publicity). This film is the only one I have seen so far that is only a 15, and that is purely because it is the least gorey of the films and comes across as being tongue in cheek for large bits of the film (starting the way for the fantastic Jason X's approach) - the smiley face revealed carved on the tree that one of the victims is mangled against raised a smile!!! I have to admit, this is certainly one of the better sequels but remember if your watching a Friday the 13th film you know what to expect, so no moaning about lack of story lines or fantastic acting - it does exactly what it says on the tin :o)
