Don't rent - not as described
By Mark Nelson from Chester, England , 18 Jan 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
For anyone expecting Amicus's classic 1973 portmanteau horror film starring Peter Cushing, Ian Bannen, David Warner, Diana Dors and Donald Pleasence prepare to be disappointed. This is in fact some awful American film of the same title made in 2001. Avoid at all costs, this film is not as described and you'd be better waiting for Amicus's From Beyond The Grave to get the release it so richly deserves- Was this review helpful to you?

(22)Enjoyable nonsense
By AxeVictim (12 reviews) , 14 Feb 2013Someone described this(correctly) as enjoyable hokum. It's a good collection of tales to while away an evening and still much better than much of the pap churned out nowadays- Was this review helpful to you?

objet d'art
By juradino (811 reviews) from London , 04 Sep 2012Antique shop Temptations Limited (offers you cannot resist) is run by man not unlike Dr Terror putting up with hard bargains driven by his customers. Mirror, war medal, snuff box, door and pair of pistols lead to horrors commenting on money matters. Similar to Vault of Horror and Tales from the Crypt by its format as well as to Dr Terror's House of Horror.- Was this review helpful to you?

It was the correct DVD, as described.
By InspectorSands (209 reviews) from London , 14 Dec 2010Another reviewer complained they'd got another film, but this was the British version described, with Ian Bannen, Donald Pleasance, Diana Dors and Ian Ogilvy, etc. It did pretty much what it said on the tin, some fine spooky horrors although only the opening story is really bloody. Not too many surprises; they unfold the way you expect but it's good stuff and if you're of a certain generation, enjoyable to watch these Brit actors do their thing. The second story with Donald Pleasance as a match salesman befriending fellow serviceman Ian Bannen is the best, though it's more down to its social awkardness than anything else.- Was this review helpful to you?

By a customer from England , 01 Nov 2010Not scary, but due to excellent acting etc and short stories, very enjoyable to watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

ok for the genre
By itstinks (681 reviews) from North of Reading , 07 Sep 2010An antique shop is the link between the stories that show some sort of comeuppance for dishonest customers.
Antique mirrors and doors provide access to other dimensions while other trinkets are complementary to the story rather than essential.
Some good directorial flourishes and well known faces of the time playing slightly against type make it a worthwhile watch.- Was this review helpful to you?
