THE BEST BOND FILM 1962-2009By roncoach (370 reviews) from suffolk , 05 Nov 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]This is my favourite Bond Movie, the second in the long series of 007 thrillers that run from 1962 to 2009. At the time of writing this review in 2011, the final casting for the latest Bond offering is virtually completed------I wish the current Bond ( Daniel Craig) every success----IMHO he is the third best actor to play the famous role after the Master : Connery; and the second-best :Brosnan).
Back in 1963, when 'From Russia With Love' was eagerly awaited after the first Bond in Dr No, Sean Connery was consolidating his skills to become the best-ever to hold 'the license to kill'.
And, when it appeared, it did not disappoint. It was better than the first Bond film and made a fortune at the box-office.
I personally think that 'From Russia With Love' is by far the best in the series from 1962 right up to the last one to emerge in 2009.
In addition to Connery at his best, the film also benefits from being one of the original Fleming novels ( there's no doubt the series declined when all the original novels had been 'used up'); and it benefits from exotic locations, skulldugerry on a train ( I love espionage thrillers on trains :))), and a fine supporting performance from the villain of the piece in the form of Robert Shaw.
About the only 'negative' was the lack of a troop of ' Bond Girls' ( which we all looked forward to:)), and a poor and unknown female actress in the leading female role.
But one of the supporting female ( possibly a female LOL) cast provides what I suppose everyone remembers the whole film for , above all else : those famous , deadly shoes !!!!!!
This is a rip-roaring early Bond thriller that IMHO is yet to be beaten.

From Russia With LoveBy Cornetto (959 reviews) from Lancaster , 28 Apr 2007From Russia with Love is another James Bond (Sean Connery) Action Adventure. James Bond willingly falls into an assassination ploy involving a naive Russian beauty in order to retrieve a Soviet encryption device that was stolen by SPECTRE. One of the Better Bond Movies, I liked this one.
Russian Lovin'By Ratman (23 reviews) from Inverness , 02 Mar 2007Brilliant. My own personal fave Bond movie. Connery at his very best as the 00 agent. A must for all fans of the Bond movies as its easily as good if not better than the rest. Get it now!
