Black & Seedy

Filth usually gravitates to the bottom - where it belongs. If you like seedy black comedy then this is for you.We turned it off after approx 30 minutes.I felt like some fresh air,a bath and change of clothes afterwards.- Was this review helpful to you?

(31)Authentic but resistible
By a customer , 29 Dec 2012I'm a big fan of 'League of Gentlemen' and this takes the dark humour of that show two or three stages further; its tone - depressingly - also authentically replicates the seedy and aggressive side of Blackpool that the place seems to want to do nothing about! But I got fed up of the relentlessly sordid atmosphere halfway through episode 2 - and I think many other viewers might do the same. The title, obviously, is ironic - sadly, there's not much fun on offer here.- Was this review helpful to you?

Fun land
By gothic (84 reviews) from Craigavon , 16 Aug 2010One that is not for the fainted hearted. On rewatching this series I was reminded how suprising it was that the original series was on television. Dealing with murder, incest, all other perversions. The seedy dark side of life put in front of you with a comic twist to help it along. If you are not easily offended by (very) bad language (moderate) nudity and (very) explicit scenarios and are into fine acting complicated plots then this is worth a look.- Was this review helpful to you?

What a story
By 2newts (79 reviews) from Havant , 25 Dec 2009this is set in Blackpool with a variety of British actors some more well known than others - the story at times is surreal but so interesting to watch - great to see the story line unfold. Worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dark comedy
By TinkerbellPan (53 reviews) from Leeds , 04 Nov 2009This is a dark, if you removed the comedy from this series it would be considered violent, great charicters unusually dark storyline, brings something different to the table.
If you are open minded to the things that 'could' happen in life if you made the wrong choices then rent.
Looking forward to disc 2 (I think) my husband loved it!- Was this review helpful to you?

League Of Seaside
By TheDramaMeister (5 reviews) from Gainsborough , 11 Aug 2009For anyone who watches Funland it'll be no suprise to learn that it was co-written by one of the League of Gentlemen, Jeremy Dyson, who, working alongside an regular Eastenders writer, has produced a very dark, blackly funny TV drama which is unlike anything else before - or since - and exactly what you;d expect if you combined these two popular TV series. Yes, every human vice is here, but its also extremely well acted, led by the brilliant Daniel Mays and with some fabulously off the wall cameos, very entertaining and full of twists and turns that keep you guessing. Its a pity all TV isn't as challenging and original as this.- Was this review helpful to you?
