This starts off so well, but quickly becomes one of those 'comedies' about real-life, somewhat distressing, issues. While there are occasional bursts of highly amusing slap-stick moments, this film about a couple that can't have a baby did not cheer me up at all. One of Gene Wilder's worse films.
Nothing startlingly different about this role for Gene Wilder but if you enjoy his films you will enjoy this. A light-hearted gentle 'Sunday afternoon' sort of film - and there's nothing wrong with that when you're in the mood. I've never been a fan of Christine Lahti, even in her 'Chicago Hope' days, but she's watchable here.
