Most helpful review
the mother of all spoofs
By charlieapple from Surrey , 14 Nov 2003[Highly rated reviewer]
I have to confess I absolutely loved this film and I don't think it got the recognition it deserved. The 'confess' is because I'm not a Tim Allen fan, nor am I a Trekkie or sci-fi fan, not crazy about Sigourney being blonde and clevage-exposed either, but my goodness, this movie is a real treat. It has some really subtle moments that had us all in hysterics (and my other half is not that easy to make laugh out loud!). The plot is so clever and original and manages to make a true story out of everything surreal, whilst providing humour, compassion, excitement and pure entertainment as well as some sterling performances from every one of the main crew. See it and enjoy - the kids will love it too!- Was this review helpful to you?

Brilliant Star Trek Spoof.
By Infandus (16 reviews) from Rochester , 07 May 2012I love Star Trek, always have, always will. I love its stories, its acting and even its borderline insane fans. However, I do appreciate and recognise how rife it is for parody. This is the task that Galaxy Quest has taken on, and boy does it succeed. Showing up everything from obsessive costumed fans at conventions to the curse of the red-shirts this film will make you laugh non-stop. Even non Star Trek fans will laugh (especially if their loved ones are fans, my other half kept pointing out characters who reminded her of me)at the silly and sometimes almost slapstick humour on display. Perhaps not what you're looking for if you prefer something cerebral as well as witty but great as a spoof in the vein of Spaceballs or The Naked Gun films.- Was this review helpful to you?

Galaxy Quest, "Star Trek meets Space Balls (The Movie)"
By Flossiecom (6 reviews) from Norfolk , 07 Jul 2010Well what can i say about this Movie ' Galaxy Quest ' It starts off like at a star trek convention and then jumps into Space Balls mode for humour.
So it is basicly a cross between Star Trek, Space Balls and Alien (without the aliens bursting out of peoples bodies), Satrical comedy that pokes Star Trek in the eyes.
Tim allen (home Improvment fame) is a very funny actor in this movie and his character basicly is the captain but he does not know what to do.. Sigorney weaver is basicly their for eye candy , Alan Ricken is very witty in his character..
The thermians are basicly alien beings who do not fight so the crew of Galaxy Quest have to save their planet from a race of aliens that are just like walking cactuses who are very unfriendly and menacing..
Needless to say this movie is a Disconnect your brain for 2 hours and enjoy the space humour at the inept attempt of the Galaxy Quest and it`s crew to stop the demise of the Thermians..
Happy viewing- Was this review helpful to you?

galaxy quest
By midniter (12 reviews) from Cramlington , 03 Jul 2010Holy Cow! All the reviews here are so positive and i confess I have no idea why this is hugely enjoyable. Just watched this between Germany / Argentina and Spain/Paraguay and I am thinking why did i bother to waste my time?
Yes it is a spoof! Special effects are o.k. nothing special in Blu-ray HD (it's not Avatar!) and yeah the cast are hamming-it up and having a xmas pantomine blast. So what? Is that what you want to watch for +100minutes?
For all the people who really like sci-fi I really would not bother... it is not Airplane! or Scary Movies! or the Night of the living dead! It's just dull and boring and every sci-fi cliche is rather predictable. 'Oh here comes the'...- Was this review helpful to you?
