Gangajal deserves the critical acclaim, it received when it was released. It succeeds in portraying the real life situations and lays the ground work for a great movie with a good tight script. It is clearly based on the Bhagalpur blindings in Bihar, if you are not aware of it already.
But then it starts losing way towards the end, till it ends up messily in the last 20 mins.
Prakash Jha should have resisted the temptation for a big (and stretched out) ending, and that would have been true to Ajay's character.
Acting wise, Ajay Devgan does a great job...the rest of the actors playing police officers give good support. Not too much scope for Gracy Singh, though.
Good watch...was worth 4-5 stars...but for the last 20 mins...I give it 3.
