Great

This is THE DVD release of the year....absolutely awesome. Sparkling script, bathos, pathos - you name it, it's got it. The acting is faultless. The whole thing is so depressingly believable and unAmerican in that it addresses all their shortcomings head on. I gather army veterans have given this the thumbs-up - that's all the plaudits it needs.- Was this review helpful to you?

(51)Never a dull moment when Ray Person is around.
By BadBabe (32 reviews) , 24 Mar 2013Funniest part of this is that in the UK Marines are seen as the elite soldiers, whilst in America it seems to be join the Marines or go to prison. Some of the Generation Kill marines are scary. There's s lot of humour-watch out for the Tromley and the Shakespeare quote. Also a lot of sadness, incompetence and madness. I wonder if Ray Person did what he said he was going to do. We'll never know Well worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

By a customer , 16 Oct 2012Could have been good, but the sound was very poor. Or is it the way they speak? Who knows. Gave up half way through disc 2.- Was this review helpful to you?

War is quite dull
By a customer , 13 May 2012I'm not going to waste too much time on this really disapointing offering from HBO. Obviously made as realistic as you possible to the real thing,it follows the fortunes of a US platoon in the Iraq war.
I usually try & give things a fair trial but this is so dull it's untrue. Most of the characters are not at all likable so you form no emotional connection, some are just annoying so them getting shot would be a huge relief. The total lack of any tension or a sense of threat or even actual contact with the enemy slows things down to a crawl.
What war scenes there are, very few here,do feel & look quite authentic & there is plenty of sharp diologue.
I have struggled to get through the first two episodes & as i now find watching grass grow more interesting, that's more than enough.- Was this review helpful to you?
