George Carlin - Life Is Worth Losing
4th March 2010
George Carlin is a clebrity for his jokes that make people laugh. This DVD is a chronicle of his dislikes and pet hates that he has developed over the years.
Obviously the eyes of a performing satirist are trained to look on the world with a slightly skewed tint and, after forty years at the job, Carlin has inverted the spectrum between real and the worst possible case, becoming accustomed to seeing the ugly in his external environment.
He leap-frogs through the world of American life, focusing on the most cliched targets and exhorting the audience to whoop and holler in that charming American way AT, rather than with the object of his puerile, irrelevant and dated humour.
The one good point he manages to deliver is in his opening introduction, where he recites a diatribe of oxymoronic self-aggrandising statements. The good point is that he has remembered it all. That's it.
I wouldn't advise anyone to watch this DVD unless they have an hour and a half they wouldn't want back. I'd personally be interested to hear from anyone to managed to laugh once. So would the doctors...
