Odd but interesting

A rather odd film, but not without its merits. Lyn Redgrave is very good as the frumpy main character,
although I am suprised she attracted an Oscar nomination. I did wonder how much she identified with her character, as she must have felt overshadowed at times by her beautiful sister vanessa. Rampling and James Mason are also very good. Alan Bates overdoes his Jack the Lad character to an irritating extent. Some wonderful loaction shots around Maida Vale. Definitely worth viewing, especially if you like British sixties films.
