Director Tommy O'Haver's (BILLY'S HOLLYWOOD SCREEN KISS) sophomore effort is a breezy teen romance that injects a much needed jolt of wit and energy into an overworked genre. Ben Foster (FREAKS AND GEEKS) stars as Berke, a fairly nondescript basketball player whose romance with the beautiful Allison (Melissa Sagemiller) has .. Read more

The bland title does no favours to this better-than-average teen movie. Ben Foster, fresh from his terrific performance in Barry Levinson's excellent but hardly seen Liberty Heights, plays a teenager who's dumped by his longtime girlfriend. He signs up to join her in the school's musical version of A Midsummer Night's Dream in an attempt to win her back. He's aided and abetted by his best friend's younger sister. As she's played by the drop-dead gorgeous Kirsten Dunst, there are no prizes for guessing that maybe young Ben is making moon-eyes in the wrong direction. Daft thing is that it takes him the whole film to realise it. Smartly written and sassily acted, the film wisely avoids drawing too many parallels between its unrequited-love theme and that of Shakespeare's play. And, as a bonus, there's an inappropriate but entertaining cameo from Martin Short, as the play's campily neurotic producer.

    build a bridge...

Well i have to say i really enjoyed this film. Its not oscar winning in any way but its a fun and funny film which ticks all the boxes i look for in a rom-com.

The story revolves around the school's very camp musical re-production of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and the dream sequences involving the film's characters (and a few fairies!) are just lovely.

If you like romantic comedies you are sure to like this film, go rent it!

    Disappointing

I was expecting this DVD to be pretty average going on the film reviews, but instead I found it to be a waste of time! I think Kirsten Dunst is great and I am generally up for any teen/ rom com, but this was particularly dull! I wouldn't recommend!

    rainy afternoon fodder

If you've nothing better to do, then switch on this harmless timefiller. No stretch of the imagination required, just chill out and let your brain cells relax. Shane West deserves much better then this.

    I loved it!

I have had this film for many years, and I watch it at least evey few months, perhaps more often.

It is the perfect film to just chill out to, to watch with the girls, to cheer you up if your feeling down.

I find the fairy bits to be hilarious, the acting is a little hammy, but it's a teen rom com, what are you expecting... Shakesphere?

If you just want to chill, this is the perfect film for you.

If you have need of cheering up, then this will make you laugh.

    Highly recommended.

Meodicre. Boring. I lost interest in the first half an hour and would not reccommend this film to anyone, though it might appeal to a younger audience.
