    Get Smart is Superb???Heh?!!!

I cannot believe a reviewer described this film as superb! Obviously this person is easily pleased!! This movie was a time filler, and nothing else. Anne Hathaway looked stunning at the ball but her main man didn't cut the mustard! He just seems to be too old to be acting silly as he does. I confess I do not always find him funny. There are some funny scenes but they are not what I would call laugh out loud funny. This is a good kiddies flick, but personally I was bored throughout and could't wait for it to finish .

Insane, implausible.. and impossible not to laugh.

You know whether you like Steve Carrell or not, so know to stay away if you don't. If you do, you have an added bonus of Anne Hathaway who is able to seamlessly do funny adult (Devil Wears Prada), funny kids (Ella Enchanted) and serious (Becoming Jane) with ultimate ease and brilliance. This time Carell is the field agent that never was, stuck for years in an internal role in 'Control' he yearns to have the opportunity to be a field agent like Hathaway, but despite applying is constantly overlooked. That is until (ok its been done before) he is the only man left for the job, and has to try and save the day. This is a real romp, a completely insane and implausible film that I just loved from beginning to end. If you have a funny bone at all there will be something in this for you. Definately worth a watch.

    Get Smart

Wasn't sure how funny this would be, but it was hilarious in parts and really funny in others. The scene on the airplane had me in tears of laughter, an easy going film with lots of gags.

    Hillarious

I loved every bit of this comedy and couldn't stop laughing. It is never vulgar and it even has Hiro in it! What more can you ask for?

    Groovy fun!

Steve Carell stars as interpreter Maxwell Smart, who gets promoted to the role of Agent. Along with the alluring Agent 99 (played by Anne Hathaway), he is sent on a mission to stop a dastardly plot to blow up a classical concert.

This is a brilliant, feel-good film, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. I confess to being a big fan of Anne Hathaway, and the scenes at the glittering ball are fabulous :-) Steve Carell is very funny indeed, and I think critics who slated this film need to lighten up a bit. If you want 90 minutes of nonsense (in a good way), this is for you!

    Get Smart

Joy, a new comedy from the director of The Naked Gun… 33 1/3. Peter Segal’s spy comedy fails on two major counts 1: It’s not very exciting 2: It’s not very funny. Yes Anne Hathaway’s legs are lovely, and yes any film that has something as odd and unexpected as the Bill Murray in a tree bit here can’t be all bad, but it’s just so lacking in inspiration.

The gags are tired, and barely one goes anywhere you don’t expect it to. This goes double for the plot, whose every detail I’d worked out before the movie’s midpoint. There are a couple of mild chuckles to be had here (which, sadly, makes Get Smart one of the funniest comedies released by a studio in recent memory) but it’s not anything you should be running out to see. Just watch The Naked Gun again… hell watch Naked Gun 33 1/3 again.

Shows your age if you remember the original

Do you remember that old TV series 'Get Smart'? (Shows your age if you do)

They have turned into a film, and it really cracked me up! Didn't think it was going to be that good and was pleasantly surprised. As a 'for instance': guy in small aeroplane observes hero + girl in burning car traveling at high speed down a railway track. He's in radio contact, so he says: 'You won't survive the jump - hang on I'll come and get you'. Seems like American film comedy has finally mastered the gentle art of irony! (They even mention that somewhere else in the film, thus pounding the point). And for once most of the humour isn't slapstick. A real treat!

    Classic comedy!

I really liked this film and it definitely has it's moments... it's not quite up there with Supertroopers or Anchorman but it's got a few classic laugh out loud bits. If you have watched The Office (American version) and you enjoyed it then you will love Steve Carrell in this, he just has an aura about him that makes you want to giggle.

    disappointing!

I expected much more...indeed, I expected a funny comedy and I only got a nostalgic reference of the old Get Smart series. The lead actor is well cast (Steve Carell as agent 86) and he does what he can with a very unenlightened script. The lead actress is also a good one (Anne Hathaway as agent 99) but she doesn't fit the character, she is anodyne and nothing to do with the wonderful Barbara Feldon of the original series. In fact, Carell deserves another opportunity as Maxwell Smart and a new companion too.

In general, this is a bad remake with a poor and unfunny script, the lack of care in the production is clear throughout the movie . Especially at the end, it's outrageous that the final scene of the movie takes place in a concert hall where there is a performance of the Symphony No- 40 of Mozart... with A PIANO!!! (symphonies don't have pianos).

My advice is simple: please don't waste you time and money, instead wait for the digitally renewed DVD of the original series... they still have many more laughs than this movie!
