Home Alone's Macaulay Culkin again proves more than a match for a whole bunch of adults with criminal tendencies in this inoffensive if grindingly obvious comedy. This time the victim of his machinations is his dad, crooked Ted Danson, who Culkin is trying to steer on to the straight and narrow. However, most of the humiliation is saved for Danson's inept sidekicks, Saul Rubinek and Gailard Sartain. Howard Deutch is a proficient enough second division director, but here he allows sentimentality to run riot, and the awkwardly ageing Culkin (approaching adolescence) no longer possesses the mischievous charm of old.

    • Radio Times
  • Crushingly dull comedy of fatherŠson bonding and role reversal, in which the infant phenomenon that is Macaulay Culkin turns in a smug and charmless performance.

    Getting Even

A watchable family tale, where Macauley Caulkin takes on would be crook Ted Danson. Danson having stolen a batch of rare coins subsequently finds them missing thanks to Caulkin. In order to get the coins back Danson has to spend quality time with his son.
