The usually superb Forest Whitaker appears to drift through this role with little passion or interest (maybe because of his Samuri philosophy?) so you tend to lose interest in the story pretty quickly. Its also very episodic due to the reading of the pages from the ??? Samuri code which are inserted every ten minutes or so. The stereotypical gangster bad guys, as such, are simply caricatures, as in fact are all of the people in the story but this probably reflects the fact that this is a comic book conversion. On the plus side the soundtrack is awesome and at times the settings for the action are pretty atmospheric. Overall an average watch so 3 stars.
