Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex Volume Six features three episodes that all deal with the central story arc of the TV series.

After being wounded whilst investigating The Laughing Man case, the rest of the team take what he has learned to find a man who may hold the key to finally solving it. Meanwhile, the Japanese government - fearing that they are getting too close to the truth - launch an assault on Section 9.

Whilst continuing their investigations, The Laughing Man himself finally goes public by recreating his original crime.

By the end of this disc, Section 9 will finally know the truth about The Laughing Man case, setting the stage for an epic showdown in Volume Seven.

This is by far the best, most action-packed volume of the series. I like that for the first time every episode on the disc pushes the story forward instead of stalling with stand alone episodes.

  • Best Disc of the Series So Far

3 fantastic episodes centred around the main story arc of the laughing man saga. The story, atmosphere and action contained within these episodes is second to none. Episode 21 has some great action reminiscent of the Ghost in the Shell movie, also presenting us with a great Terminator 2 homage. The laughing man and the sunflower group's links to the medical boards supression of cyber-brain schlorosis medication is recapped for those who have got a bit lost within this complex story. Episode 22 brings in some real tense situations with the whole of section 9 seemingly about to be undercut. Also the sexiest episode yet. Episode 23 allows the laughing man to reveal who is behind the persona and his true cause. Not the outcome you might have been expecting either. Great build up to the final episodes on the next disc.

This is great stuff from the Stand Alone Committee. Bringing true film qualities to a 22 minute running time series. Still as complex and enjoyable as ever.

  • Good Story, Rubbish Animation

While the begining of this series was smoothly animated and looked sleek, now the animation is boxy and they have long sections of frame where only small parts move, and poorly at that. The story is still intruging though. I'd rent it if the story appeals, but I wouldn't buy any part of the series just because of this disc. Bit of a disappointment especially when compared to the first episode. I'll rent the last one though just to see how the story ends.
