I stopped watching after a few minutes, hated it. If this is the best Anime has to offer, I guess it's just not for me. The frame rate, for starters, was shockingly low! What was that, 5 frames per second??? It gave me headaches straight away! The animation has a few short good moments at important bits where they took extra care but is generally poor, no matter how you put it (unless, maybe, if you measure it against other cr*p Anime)!!! The other problem was the language; I just couldn't get into it with Japanese (I tried) and the American voices are laughable because the acting is so terrible! All this made me withdraw from the action and I was having to make a huge effort to understand what was going on so I just stopped wasting my time and sent it back.

  • More philosophy than action

Beautifully drawn, this is high art animation. The story might well leave you wanting. More philosophy than action and more of a film noir than an drama.

I enjoyed the film but the end came and I was still waiting on a final act; it did feel like it ended prematurely.

Still worth watching to see one of the classic influential Mangas

  • Without this Anime is nothing

This was the first DVD I ever owned.

And im prouder than a Claymore Sword about it.

This anime is the true defining moment of animation and what would later become CGI

If traditional anime and CGI were to have a seedy love affair on a filthy weekend away,

This would be thier love child.

And thank god for that, the story is a true masterpiece taken from the genius of Masamune Shirow sama's Manga.

This movie literally pioneered a new age for anime and from then on we have gotten such stunning works like Appleseed and Appleseed Ex Machina

You must watch this incomparibly brilliant work of science fiction as well as its other counter parts

The anime scene without this movie would be like the music scene without PInk Floyd

  • Legendary film. Must watch before you die!

Ghost in the Shell has gone down in film history, along with Akira, as one of the most important and outstanding pieces of animation ever.

Simply outstanding in every respect nothing has come close to the quality of this film since its release in 1995. Shirow Masamune's work is flawless. This film seeks answers to some profound questions. What is it to be human? How do you define humanity and consciousness? What is the meaning of life? All these questions are put to the audience through the sublime medium of this film. Major Kusanagi's fight against a huge tank and overwhelming odds in a run-down dilapidated ruin while the rain crashes down around them is truly awe inspiring.

The film is full of subtle hints and points both visual and verbal. The script is tight and you get the feeling that no word is without meaning. The animation is truly ground breaking with one of the most cinematic moments in film history as the Major falls off the top of a skyscraper and slowly disappears with her camouflage gear enabled.

The music, plot, character depth and direction combine to make this film truly spectacular. An inspiration for the Matrix films Ghost in the Shell will live on as an epic masterpiece long after other films have bitten the dust.

An absolute must see and a film that you will definitely want to watch again and again.
