If there's something strange.....in your neighbourhood
By JediSi (301 reviews) from Kent , 09 Nov 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson star as a quartet of Manhattan based 'paranormal investigators.' When their government grants run out, they go into business as 'Ghostbusters, Inc.' Armed with electronic gadgets, the team is spectacularly successful, ridding The Big Apple of ghouls and ghosts. William Atherton regards the Ghostbusters as a bunch of charlatans, but is forced to eat his words when New York is besieged by an army of unfriendly spirits, conjured up by a long dead Babylonian demon and 'channeled' through Sigourney Weaver and nerd Rick Moranis. The climax is a glorious send up of every Godzilla movie ever made and it cost more than a year's worth of Japanese monster flicks combined. Who'd ever dream that the chubby, cheery Stay Puft Marshmallow Man would turn out to be so mean. Ghostbusters is still a great movie and this stuff was huge in 1984 and Ray Parker Juniors theme tune is still as fantastic.- Was this review helpful to you?

(99)The Blu-ray edition is superior
By Aggmeister2 (8 reviews) from St Albans , 26 May 2013The film will always be a classic and something that everyone must see but I want to focus on the Blu-ray edition. I am slightly confused by some of the criticisms of the Blu-ray version (maybe those people didnt have a good quality TV/player). I thought is was superb and the clarity was brilliant, especially on scenes which involved views of the city or streets, only about two small scenes seemed grainy. The biggest improvement was the audio, you can hear lots of the talk in the background and the sound of proton packs is awesome. Please bring out ghostbusters II on blu-ray with some deleted scenes from that film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Who you gonna call?!?
By Nabashin (3 reviews) from whitstable , 20 Apr 2013I have to say this is my all time top movie, so this review is going to be a tad biased :P Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis have brilliant comic timing through out this film and as a team have good chemistry. The story was fun for the whole family back in 84 and still is to this day and if you love this film as much as I you have probably seen it in excess of a thousand times! If you haven't seen it yet rent the blue ray get the pop corn in turn the lights down and the sound up and enjoy a truly epic classic of 80's filmography!- Was this review helpful to you?

Iconic Awesomeness
By MaceyDean (15 reviews) , 18 Mar 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
At 35 I still enjoyed this movie, although the library ghost now seems considerably less terrifying, and Bill Murray considerably more sleazy.- Was this review helpful to you?
