Skip these films and rent Ghoulies Go to College instead.
Ghoulies is a very, very odd film. From the title, and the cover photo of a little green man coming out of the toilet, you'd expect some raucous comedy/horror gross-out trash, right? But what you get instead is a largely serious story about a young man being drawn into an obsession with black magic. Hmmm. If handled a bit more intelligently it might have made for a decent occult thriller, and yet in the last half hour or so it decides to become a trashy monster movie; the result is totally unsatisfying in both capacities. Still, this package earns minor brownie points for containing the sequel, which wisely ditches the dramatic occultism in favour of a simpler horror tale set in a carnival with the little monsters taking centre stage. Sadly, it's just not nearly as much fun as that sounds. Avoid these like the plague, and if you must check out Ghoulies Go To College - that at least has boobs in it.
