Worth watching, don't think men will like it as much as girlsBy LanaRay (2 reviews) , 16 Apr 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]I quite liked it. The actors are great! Being a girl myself I understood everything the author wanted to tell me about the life of the girls in that era, in any era actually...

A good reflection on teenage life and parentingBy Zebigboss (6 reviews) , 09 Nov 2013This is an excellent movie for those who are into introspective and reflective storylines. Sally Potter is an intelligent writer, and the story reminds us that what matters is our perception of personal events and how we project those into our behaviours and beliefs. A bit slow at the beginning, the story becomes more intriguing after 30 minutes and then becomes simply riveting. Not for the action movie fan, though. It could be one of those French movies by Eric Rohmer. But it's a British cinema production, and a very good one.
Pretentious and drearyBy a customer , 08 Oct 2013Sadly not up to usual Sally Potter standards, rather a tiresome and pretentious tale involving unlikeable characters. Not for me.
Very very slow and boringBy twosoddingcats (269 reviews) from Kingston-upon-Thames , 01 Oct 2013With a cast like this: Alessandro Nivola, Christina Hendricks, Elle Fanning, Timothy Spall, ( and introducing) Alice Englert, Annette Bening, Oliver Platt....I had expected much much more. Set in the UK at the time of the nuclear crisis, Ginger and Rosa are born on the same day and become inseparable friends....until one of them sleeps with someone she shouldn't have and the friendship slowly implodes...that's about it. It's far far too slow and I started tweezering my facial hair. A shame when something seems really promising but it's not nearly as exciting as you expected it to be...
Fanning growningBy harlekina23 (1 review) , 22 Sep 2013Good Movie, recommended for girls specially, Fanning good acting, she´s growing in her acting, natural and powerful. But the story needs more
Not quite...By buttercup74 (2 reviews) , 13 Aug 2013Clearly from the reviews this film is splitting opinion. Whilst I found it beautifully shot and at times superbly acted, at other times the accents were distractingly off which jarred. For me, as a whole it lacked something and didn't work. Perhaps it needed narration, perhaps a stronger central narrative, perhaps it lacked pace at times, and perhaps it was a little too childish in its emotions (I know they are children, but the poem at the end is sadly weak).
