    Nice makeover, but...

The Godfather gets a complete makeover and has never looked better . Grain is apparent throughout the film so don't expect a shiny new version just because it's a blu ray. Colours look great and the daylight scenes are particularly clear and sharp. Some scenes have significant grain which don't look that good but this was probably due to the quality of the original master rather than a dodgy transfer. Well worth a rental, and even a purchase.

    Godfather BLURAY edition review.

Firstly, I feel there is not much I can add to the plethora of reviews already available out there for this film. This is not a Godfather review, this is a review of the BluRay transition. A very short review at that.

All I can say is that don't rent this expecting to be wowed by the quality. It is 30 year old movie and it really shows. The upscaling has resulted in a lot of grain being visible in any scene that is not well lit. You may find this annoying.

In short, if you do not own the Godfather and you are considering a purchase, avoid the BluRay version at least until the price is somewhat comparable to DVD.
