The Godfather gets a complete makeover and has never looked better . Grain is apparent throughout the film so don't expect a shiny new version just because it's a blu ray. Colours look great and the daylight scenes are particularly clear and sharp. Some scenes have significant grain which don't look that good but this was probably due to the quality of the original master rather than a dodgy transfer. Well worth a rental, and even a purchase.
Firstly, I feel there is not much I can add to the plethora of reviews already available out there for this film. This is not a Godfather review, this is a review of the BluRay transition. A very short review at that.
All I can say is that don't rent this expecting to be wowed by the quality. It is 30 year old movie and it really shows. The upscaling has resulted in a lot of grain being visible in any scene that is not well lit. You may find this annoying.
In short, if you do not own the Godfather and you are considering a purchase, avoid the BluRay version at least until the price is somewhat comparable to DVD.
This movie is as good as they say. I think everyone should have seen it at least once, it's a classic.

Have to agree with other reviewers, the film is great, an all time classic, but don't expect anything extra special from the BLURAY version - colours are maybe a touch brighter, but grain is apparent, more so than on a DVD version.
Was it any good, yes if like me you have not had the plesure of seeeing all the episodes many years ago, and apart from some slow periods it was worth watching in Bluray.
This kept me entertained for so long that I felt I lived with de familly
Most film watchers agree this is one of the best movies ever made and the Blu-ray version does nothing to detract from this. The many gloomier/moodier scenes benefit from an excellent transfer to hi-def and it is well worth renting to experience the higher quality if you need any excuse to watch it again.
