It’s not very often I rate a film with an unwatchable 1 point, but ‘Godsend’ really did earn it.

First things first, completely ignore the trailer for this film. The trailer tricks you into thinking this is a horror film. You do have all the perfect horror ingredients, weird kid, flash backs, dead people (sound familiar?) and an enigmatic doctor type. However they seem to have gone bad in the mix, very bad.

The basic premise is that a young boy dies at the age of eight. In a state of distress his parents are offered an exact clone of their child by a mysterious doctor (De Niro). Ethics out the window the parents opt for the clone. Things are fine up until the point the cloned child exceeds the life of his dead counterpart. From this point on things go, well, pear shaped.

I won’t give away the ending to much, but let’s just say it would have been better if the cast of ‘Queer eye for the straight guy’ suddenly appeared and revelled that the clone simply needed a ‘makeover’.

This film really is appalling; it doesn’t even warrant a straight-to-video, more apt would be a straight-to-bin.

This was a great film, I was gripped from start to finish. Everyone in it was so believable and no way to predict the ending.

    Top notch viewing.

Deep movie but not to hard on the mind. Gets you thinking 'what if'.

End was a bit poor but the selection of movie ends as an extra made up for it.

  • Quite miserable

A very nicely made film with superb acting. It's not really horror, more of a thriller with creepy elements thrown in. It is very good, but only if you don't mind the misery that trails through the film. Personally, I would reccomend the film Dragonfly rather than this. It has the same sort of feel to it minus the horror parts and you won't feel depressed at the end!

  • Average film unispired storyline

The storyline to this film is OK-ish. Genetic cloning is a very interesting and morally testing subject. The film, in true American panic style, likes add a bit of evil to the subject and involves the supernatural in something that isn't what I'd call a spiritual subject at all.

The film itself is pretty mediocre. The kind of film you'll only watch if there's nothing better to do. It's boring for the first 35 mins and then, when things liven up, it's hardly heart stopping stuff by any means. Ordinary is the only word to describe this film.

The sound quality is poor in my view. IT's been mention before that the dialogue is so quiet and the soundtrack music being so loud. Being Visually Impaired, I used the audio description feature. The AD voices can be somewhat louder than the entire film itself but, this AD soundtrack was literally booming while the film was so quiet. Even the AD soundtrack eclisped the loud audio music!

I've seen another Pathe film before where the sound quality wasn't up to much. A shame really.
