Video-store geeks, pornography and reclusive weirdos: all staple indie movie themes this comedy embraces with gusto.... read more on Time Out
When I received this film, I couldn't remember having it on my list, so I looked back at the Tesco review. Having seen the rating bars, the title and the synopsis, I was ready to send it straight back without viewing, but.... I gave it a try, and what a great film!
Truly original, it's extremely funny, touching and disturbing in equal measures..... so don't watch it with Granny and the kids, or if you're particularly averse to the f-word.
A mention must go to Marianna Palka - not only the excellent female lead, she also wrote, directed and co-produced the film.
Refreshingly different 'romcom'. The two leads have great chemistry and work hard to compensate for script deficiencies. The dialogue isn't as snappy as it should be in places and the film takes too long to kick into gear and then, just when you think it's going somewhere interesting, it fizzles out. Nonetheless, there are enough amusing and well observed moments to keep you engaged, even if at the end Good Dick feels something like a wasted opportunity.
