Interesting and entertaining
By BigMeUp (281 reviews) from Midlands, UK , 31 Oct 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
The consequences of the slave trade reverberate around us still in various ways, and possibly the 'black' woman's desire for long, straight hair is one of these repercussions. Howsoever its motivations have arisen, Chris Rocks' entertaining look at the world of 'black' hairdressing is interesting and thought-provoking.
I have rated this film as a documentary, taking into account its value as a medium of both entertainment and information.
I recommend this film.- Was this review helpful to you?

(45)Funny and informative
By a customer , 18 Dec 2012Its great that a man can make such a good documentary about black women and their hair. Its very thoughtful, funny, not preachy but it does make you think. Anyone with an interest in afro hair should watch this.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good Watch
By Gigolo (3 reviews) , 05 Feb 2012Took a risk with this one, recomended on film review site I use, anyway it was a punt that paid off with a well documented story of Afro American hair culture. Doesn't sound too promising but well worth a watch. Facts like most hair weaves sourced from India for a few rupees end up costing American divas thousands of dollars will stick with me.
Written whilst listen to Elvis. Eclectic taste in all things.- Was this review helpful to you?

Every black person should watch this!
By AimeeLogic (6 reviews) , 29 Dec 2011What an insight! I have already recommended it to my facebook friends. It is very informative.
It got me thinking too. I relax my hair but I am 25 and have never had a weave and after watching this and seeing where and how the 'human hair' comes from, I don't think I ever want to get one. Especially not one with human hair.
Conclusion: a must see for every black person.
Plus, yes we should look into the hair maintenance of other races too. That would be interesting.- Was this review helpful to you?
