Chilling Thriller for its time and still stands its ground today!
Was a great film to watch again after so many years.

(9)Russia in Helsinki With English Actors
By Cato (715 reviews) from Lydbury North , 15 Oct 2012Slow, rather complicated plot for the initial premise of finding the murderers of three people in Gorky Park . But that's probably the fault of the novel the film was based upon. Interesting to see some old English faithfuls in the cast, including Michael Elphick, who did'nt turn up in a Russian police uniform very often, and a very young looking Richard Griffiths. The least said about Alexei Sayle's cameo performance the better. but at 2 hours the film did drag on a bit.- Was this review helpful to you?

Mis-cast and not very interesting
By BrokenToySoldier (11 reviews) from Egg Rock , 01 Feb 2011This sounded like it would be political, hard-hitting and somewhat informative. Maybe I just read the wrong reviews because what I saw was a hotchpotch of mis-cast, now-comedy actors running through a plot that I lost track of for the simple reason that it wasn't very interesting.- Was this review helpful to you?

Arkady isn't quite as down at heel as you want him to be
By a customer from Morecambe, England , 15 Oct 2008...that's my main complaint about this Brit-Russo production (Ian Bannen, Micheal Elphick, Alexi Sayle)...William Hurt just glides through a performance in name only. If you love the Cruz Smith books, you won't recognise your beloved Arkasha. Gen. Pribluda is good, and the locations are fab (I love snow, by the way, so any film with it in gets my vote - check out Fargo) so whaddya want fer a tanner?, as we say in Lancashire.
Lee Marvin plays the stereotypical American businessman okay, and Richard Griffiths also has a good part. Dosvedanya!- Was this review helpful to you?
