Most helpful review
Listen to the critics, not the public!By Steve H from Manchester, England , 15 Nov 2003
[Highly rated reviewer]The critics loved this film and the puclic hated it. It's easy to understand why if you read some of the reviews by the professionals. They described it as very funny, sophisticated, clever etc etc and to be honest this film is a little over the head of Joe Public who went to see it expecting laugh-a-minute jokes and obvious humour. This is an incredibly subtle film and the humour isn't the sort that will appeal to the mass market. It comes almost as much from what is not said as what the stars actually say. The detail of the film and the quality of the acting is top notch and I can't recommend this film highly enough to a cultured viewer.

Gosford ParkBy a customer from EXETER , 09 Jul 2009Cinematograohy dated. Good cast and well performed. Good plot too!!
Not to be a philistine but...By PNut160988 (24 reviews) from Durham , 29 Jun 2009Yes, the dialogue was witty; yes, the film was as greatly executed as one would expect with so many big names and yes, it did create an interesting and cutting depiction of the relationships and divisions within and between social classes.
But it's over 2 hours and I spent quite a lot of time waiting for the end. It can be very hard to keep track of who everyone is and, to a certain extent, it never really matters. They're just caricatures representing social divisions. None of the characters really seem to matter.
Hopefully, I'll watch this film again at some point and will be able to appreciate it like those who have extolled its brilliance
character emphasisBy a customer from London , 22 Jun 2009Empasis on characters, and some good actors to pull this off, but a bit slow
Gosford ParkBy a customer from Teignmouth , 29 Apr 2009Excellent film, excellent cast but very often on television! I still enjoyed it!
Positively uneventful and boring!By a customer from SW London , 25 Mar 2009I love this genre of films, however this film was lacklustre and positively boring.
Characters were uninteresting and not much of a plot.Avoid.
