Leaden, Cartoon-ish, devoid of spirit or mystery

It is deeply ironic that there is so little of the Light and Spirit of this most mystical of the gospels in this moronic literal rendering. This just goes through a superficial transcription without injection of any imagination at all. In sections where countless uses could have been made of a movie format to show the scintillating sense of this hallowed scripture, all we get again and again is another shot of an actor staring into the middle distance who then turns to another, with a silent nod (cue music), pure pantomime in quality! ANY kind of artistic style or human impression, any sign of inspiration of art design would have been welcome. The lifeless narration and two-dimensional characters fetter any spiritual uptake by the consumer and grievously disrespect the original messages of the early Christian writers. In a supreme act of indifference and blandness the makers have managed to suck the soul out of John's gospel here. Bring back Mel Gibson and Last Temptation… as at least it has an endearing style of some sort and tries much harder to cast the sensational perspective on these stories that for generations of readers (well before film) was always self-evident.
