Cruel Intentions Meets Dawsons Creek?! Maybe...

I'm keeping an open mind here. So far I have only watched disc one of season one, and I'm going to keep going with it. I think the biggest initial issue I had with this was that I found it hard to really care about the characters, even the main characters are near impossible to empathise with. Bitchy, unreal and backed by mummy and daddy's money, it's hard to find where the appeal lies. But there have been a couple of twists, maybe they will turn into a storyline that in turn becomes gripping! I get the feeling that the writers were fans of the movie Cruel Intentions, that mixed in with an attempt to plug the void that programmes like Dawson's Creek left when they ended I'm not sure that the patchwork quilt of a show that this is can blossom, but I dont like to write things off without giving it a season to secure itself.
