Gran Torino, the new vengeance drama directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, has gone straight to the top of the US box office charts. Eastwood plays a Korean War veteran who takes the law into his own hands after clashing with a gang of street thugs. New comedy Paul Blart: Mall Cop has claimed the number one spot on the US box office chart after its first weekend on release.
