  • Are You Ready For Some More...Grave Encounters?

    [Highly rated reviewer]

The movie is a genuinely terrifying, disturbing and upsetting assault on the senses.

Beginning with a brief testimoney from the producer of the Show, Grave Encounters, we are thrust head long into the raw footage edited together from some seventy plus hours of footage, the question being, how did they get that much footage if the Grave encounters team were only locked down inside the location for eight hours.

To say anymore, would be to ruin a most visceral experience, and one hell of a fun ride, it contains more tension and outright horror than even Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project combined, of which I am a champion of both.

There are wonderful visual flourishes throughout and The Vicious Brothers have really nailed the pompous pumped up and self important attitude that most of these shows employ, The show it most resembles in my mind would be Zac Bagans' Ghost Adventures, which I highly recommend.

The movie also has a wicked twist that could have become very boring and provided a dramatic drop in interest but here gives it further intrigue amid the horror.

The movie also makes a point of respecting your source material and doing things with genuine intent, as the main character Lance Preston presents himself as a pumped up ghost buster, determined to produce and capture evidence of supernatural activity at any cost.

The movie does have a slight flaw in that some of the cast are unable to deliver their dialogue as real and genuine mabye was seen in Blair witch and Paranormal Activity, thereby scuppering the illusion of reality, but this is easy to get past as the following Hour and Thirty One Minutes are so expertly handled and the general air of dread just keeps building and building with no release that it hardly matters.

So for once, here is a movie where the hype is entirely justified, a great story that drip feeds it's audience detail without making it easy for them and provides genuine scares.

One final thing...if, whilst watching this, you see something out of the corner of your eye, don't worry, there is no such thing as Ghosts...Right?

  • This film IS worth watching but maybe not more than once

    Rated - 2.5 stars

This film doesnt deserve all the bad reviews its got. this film isnt dissapointing. The actors werent that bad and it had a fair few jumps. If you like ghost investigator films and accept that they didnt have a huge budget it is worth watching, but maybe not want to watchit more than once.

  • Creep Fest

Not bad very similar to House on Haunted Hill as people are locked into the building and encounter ghosts. The start is slow but you need this to understand the rest of the film. Creepy rather than frightening. Plenty to make you jump and and get creeped out. Worth renting if you like this sort of film.

Strangely seeing the second film before this, the exicement of knowing I will have the orignal movie to watch was overwelming only to find I was massively disappointed. Yes there were some truely disturbing scenes that will chill your bones and make you jump from your seat but why does the viewer have to wait until the last 30 minutes for the action to kick in? Sure you have to set the story up or what of it and make the characters believeable which they werrn't at all, seriously it's a bad found footage film that disappointed me and put me off these kind of movies for good.
