This is actually a little gem of a movie. I rented it on the strength of it being a Vipco resurrection, and also because of my strong love of 70s and 80s 'low-budget' horror.
I won't go into too much about the plot or characters, because being fair, it's quite deep and somewhat incomprehensible. The storyline twists and turns, but it's enough to keep you entertained. Basically, a rape of a woman by a vampire produces a vampire baby who grows up to be a 'nice (?)' vampire?wanting to find his dad.
Considering this movie looks like it was produced on a budget which wouldn't even buy you a second hand Transit van, the whole 'entity' of Grave of the Vampire stands up to more contemporary vampire flicks.
I really enjoyed it! The sort of 'dodgy' plot evolves and culminates in an outrageous fight of good & evil at the end. Glorious!
So, rent it in, dim the lights and enjoy what was commonly known in the 70s as 'exploitation cinema'- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)Decent Grindouse but sadly snipped......
By a customer , 18 Aug 2012This is the cut version !!!! As per the IMDB site this is missing the scene when a mother makes a razor cut in her breast and feeds her baby and an arm trickling blood after a hypodermic injection. Apparently there is not an uncut version only in Germany where it was release on VHS and featured more gore in the murder sequences. About time this was dusted off, stitched together and released in it's purity. A bit more 'spice' and you would have a decent little flick . Trivia fans - when this was released in the USA it was a PG rating . My how 'sensitive' a world we have become.- Was this review helpful to you?

grave , it's grave alright!
By Anonymous , 14 Mar 2005This is one vampire that should never have been resurected; it's crap, crap story with acting to match. And the quality of the film is terrible too, looks like it's been copied from a bad VHS recording.- Was this review helpful to you?
